Christmas with the Sex Pistols, BBC4, Boxing Day, December 26th 2013 at 10pm.
BBC4 will broadcast a special one-hour documentary on the Sex Pistols historic concert’s in Huddersfield Christmas Day 1977. The documentary looks at how the group branded ‘public enemy number’ one by the media played a matinee concert for the kids of striking firemen and put on a Christmas party with free presents and cakes; then later that evening played a show for the firemen and adults.
Director Julien Temple marries together previously unseen footage of the legendary shows along with archive footage of the striking firemen and 1977 television. John Rotten, Steve Jones and Paul Cook were all interviewed for the documentary. This is the Pistols as you have never known or seen them before. What better way to spend Christmas on Boxing Day…

Universal / Virgin Records today issue a new budget PiL compilation as part of their 'Gold' series. The 28 track double CD, clocking in at over 70 minutes each, features tracks from all the re-mastered Virgin studio albums; along with some 12" mixes. See tracklisting below. PiL management were heavily involved with the tracklsiting and artwork; which includes rare Maureen Baker pictures of the band circa 1982 along with a PiL biography. The compilation will be available in Europe and UK.

The award recognises John's songwriting skills from the Sex Pistols right through PiL to his solo work; and the impact of his songs on popular culture. Reminder that the John Lydon episode of 'Guth' airs tonight, Thursday October 10th, at 9.30pm on TG4, Ireland's Irish Channel.
'Guth' exams the impact of the Irish people on popular music in the US and UK. The programme kicks off with PiL on stage at Electric Picnic in 2008, John's Irish background is discussed throughout; along with his musical career from his Sex Pistols days through PiL and right up to 'This is PiL'.
As part of Virgin Records 40th anniversary celebrations they will be releasing several PiL vinyl records over the next couple of months. The first release on October 21st will be a picture disc of the 1986 'Album' album. The 180g vinyl LP will be issued as part of the Back to Black series and will include a download code. The original tracklisting and artwork style have been kept.
Next up on October 28th is a limited edition 7" picture disc of 'This is Not a Love Song' (1983 12" version) backed with 'USLS1' (the rarer Eric ET Thorngren mix from the Warrior 7" single). The picture disc will feature the black PiL logo (as per 'This is Not a Love Song') on the front and the "eye" from the back of the Warrior 7" on the rear.
Lastly, November 4th will see the release of a double A 12" featuring 'Rise' (1986 12" version) and 'Warrior' (1989 12" extended mix). The sleeve will feature the original artwork on each side. The original labels have also been reproduced.
A series of Virgin 40 compilation CD's featuring Public Image Ltd and John Lydon solo releases will also be issued on November 5th. Full tracklisting to follow.
Virgin will also be launching an exhibition which will include an array of rare PiL memorabilia, pictures and records from the PiL Official archives. The exhibition opens Thursday October 24th, in London's Southampton Row. More info to follow.
A book tracing the history of the label - including a chapter on PiL - will also be released.

An in-depth interview with John Lydon appears in the new book 'Isle of Noises: Conversations With Great British Songwriters' by Daniel Rachel. The 20+ page interview covers John's whole career from Sex Pistols, through PiL, to his solo work, and brings things up to the present with 'This is PiL'. John discusses how he crafts his words, the inspiration behind them, and what they mean to him. This is one of the few interviews that pays full respect to John's musical and lyrical skills and is highly recommended.
'Isle of Noises: Conversations With Great British Songwriters' is published by Picador and in shops from September 12th. You can also read a small excerpt via the book's official website.

Broadcast Music, Inc (BMI) will present John Lydon with the prestigious "BMI Icon Award" at its annual awards ceremony at London’s Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane on Tuesday, October 15th.
"John Lydon is a true icon whose influence on music, fashion and art has been felt around the world. We are very pleased to recognize his impact on popular culture and his outstanding musical contributions with the BMI Icon Award," said Del Bryant, BMI President and Chief Executive Officer.

PiL on tour now! PiL kicked off the June tour in fine style at John and Rambo's own backyard in Finsbury Park on Saturday. And yes, we did have a lark. Thank you London.

Lisbon. Unfortunately Public Image Ltd have international obligations on June 21, 2013 that can not be changed so unfortunately the Lisbon show will have to be cancelled. A New show will hopefully be arranged soon. PiL would like to apologise to fans for any inconvenience and thank them for their support as always. Please contact your ticket vendor for refunds.
The Porto show (June 22, 2013), and all other scheduled shows, will go ahead as planned.

John is interviewed in the Wall Street Journal where he picks some of his favourite personal items including a PiL backdrop display from 1984, the painting from This is PiL, and a pack of Red Stripe.
As part of a forthcoming punk exhibition at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art John Lydon has written an article for the official book to accompany the exhibition. "Punk was like nothing anybody had seen before, like nothing. Punk was fearless. Utterly fearless." John Lydon

As we confirmed last week PiL are finally set to play the Glastonbury Festival this June. Remarkably, this will be the first time John Lydon or Public Image Ltd have ever played the festival.
John Lydon says: “What a great chance for The Rolling Stones and Michael Jagger to see Public Image Ltd and Johnny Rotten at Glastonbury. Hugs and Kisses baby Rockers.”
PiL will return to the Rock Summer Festival in Tallinn, Estonia to help celebrate's the festival's 25th anniversary. Now legendary, the band played the very first festival in 1988 to over 120,000 people while Estonia was still part of the USSR. Tickets are on sale now, see link below. The Sex Pistols will release a very special version of Pretty Vacant as a limited edition vinyl 7” single on April 20th for UK Record Store Day.
The A-Side is a previously unreleased version of Pretty Vacant recorded live at the Hammersmith Apollo on 2nd September 2008. Featuring a ‘Country & Western’ style intro it, as John Lydon says, “brings out the c*nt in country”. The flip-side is a 1977 mono mix of Pretty Vacant which was only previously available on a rare American promo of the single. The 3,500 limited edition, numbered 7”s come in a faithfully replicated version of the original American promo.

For Record Store Day USA (April 20th) Light In The Attic Records will release a replica 7" of PiL's debut single 'Public Image' wrapped in its 4 page PiL newspaper sleeve; as per the original October 1978 UK release.
The single will be limited edition of 4,000 copies (hand numbered) and available at all good record shops in the USA. Support your local record store.
The single will be followed later in the year by the first ever official US release of the band's debut album 'First Issue. Issued as an expanded, 2xCD and single LP edition; with various bonus material including an almost hour-long audio interview circa 1978. More details to follow soon...

We are pleased to announce that PiL will play their first club shows in Italy since 1987 this October. The band will play Bologna, Estragon on Saturday October 26th followed by Roma, Atlantico on Sunday October 27th.
Tickets go on general sale Monday but we will be having a special pre-sale tomorrow, Friday February 15th at 9am Central European Time via the links below.
The PiL UK / Europe merchandise store has been relaunched and re-designed. The store now features woman's sizes for the very first time (by popular demand), along with PiL Hoodies and designs from the 2012 tour, plus some new designs. More items will be added in the near future.

We are delighted to announce the first ever PiL live dates in China, followed by a welcome return to Japan and Australia. A very special interview with John Lydon is broadcast tomorrow, Saturday, November 24th at 10:05pm, UK on BBC World Service. 'An Audience With John Lydon' was recorded back in March to an audience of 150 people. As you may remember we invited people to submit questions at the time.

BBC 6 Music this week repeat John Lydon's 3 radio shows from June this year. Part one airs tonight, Monday December 23rd at 7-9pm and continues at the same time tomorrow 24th, concluding on Christmas Day. 
Universal / Virgin Records today issue a new budget PiL compilation as part of their 'Gold' series. The 28 track double CD, clocking in at over 70 minutes each, features tracks from all the re-mastered Virgin studio albums; along with some 12" mixes. See tracklisting below. PiL management were heavily involved with the tracklsiting and artwork; which includes rare Maureen Baker pictures of the band circa 1982 along with a PiL biography. The compilation will be available in Europe and UK.
